CHLÖISU – Die Wirklichkeit ist nicht alles

In his solo piece, Marco Michel explores how we construct reality through the life and work of Bernese artist and pianist Chlöisu Friedli. Theatre, live music and a shifting stage design trace Friedli’s Bernese German blues and laconic observations, alongside the crises and long clinic stays that shaped his life.

The scenic music was composed exclusively using the cardboard slabs used in the performance. By striking, rubbing and waving the boards, diverse sonic textures were extracted to support the story and underscore the sense of reality that Chlöisu created for himself.
